Hyundai Motor announces the name of its new sub-compact SUV: The All-New Hyundai Kona
Hyundai has announced the name of its new sub-compact SUV. It has been names the Hyundai Kona, an all-new B segment SUV, it will be the fourth member of Hyundai's SUV family in Europe and will compete with the Nissan Juke. Hyundai's SUV family in Europe currently consists of the Grand Santa Fe, Santa Fe and the Tucson, over the past few years Hyundai has shown that they are more than capable of dominating markets as well as bringing style, performance and specification at a reasonable price.
Hyundai has plans to launch 30 new models and derivatives in Europe by 2021, the Hyundai Kona is the fourth pillar in Hyundai's SUV offensive, Hyundai already has 1.4m SUV sales under its belt since the introduction of the first generation Santa Fe in 2001.
And if you're wondering how Hyundai came up with the name; Kona is a district in Hawaii. Hyundai say: 'The island’s energetic image and unique lifestyle matches the All-New Hyundai Kona’s dynamic character.'
Hyundai Kona SUV to rival Nissan Juke
AutoExpress spy photographers have already spotted the new SUV out on the road. Obviously in a heavy disguise but images confirm the ultra-thin headlights teased by Hyundai match the spy shots.
The Kona is most-likely to be closely based on the chassis of the current Hyundai i20 and inherit the latest engine line-up used in the new i30.
